ABOUT
My name is Tiffeany Roderick, the founder of 1st & Ten Industries. As the daughter of a football coach I grew up with a love for football. Over the years, I have met so many women who have said, "if I understood it, I would watch it more". I also found myself watching games without my girlfriends or the only woman in attendance at a watch party over and over again. That is how 1st & Ten Industries was born. I felt that if I created a fun environment for women to learn about the game of football in a fun, judgement free zone, I could create new football fans!

I have a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Management, specializing in Organizational Leadership. I have a passion for football, and I enjoy the idea of women having a great time while learning. Now, allow us to create an exciting experience for you and your girlfriends!

The ABCs of Football
A - Audible: A change in the play called by the quarterback at the line of scrimmage.

B - Blitz: A defensive strategy where additional players rush the quarterback to disrupt the play.
​
C - Cornerback: A defensive back who covers receivers, trying to prevent them from catching passes.
​
D - Down: A period of action that starts when the ball is put into play and ends when the ball is dead. Teams have four downs to advance ten yards.

E - End Zone: The area at each end of the field where touchdowns are scored.
​
F - Field Goal: A kick, worth three points, that is attempted from anywhere on the field but usually within 40 yards of the goalposts.

G - Gridiron: Another term for the football field, named for the grid-like lines on the field.
​
H - Huddle: A circle formed by the team to discuss the next play.
​
I - Interception: A pass that is caught by a defensive player, ending the offense’s possession of the ball.
​
J - Juke: A quick, deceptive move by a ball carrier to evade a defender.
​
K - Kickoff: A free kick that puts the ball into play at the start of each half and after every score.
​
L - Line of Scrimmage: The imaginary line where the ball is placed at the start of each play.
​
M - Mascot: A team’s symbolic figure, often an animal or character, that represents the team spirit.
​
N - Nickel Defense: A defensive formation that uses five defensive backs instead of the usual four.
​
O - Offside: A penalty where a player is on the wrong side of the line of scrimmage when the ball is snapped.
​
P - Punt: A kick made when a player drops the ball and kicks it before it hits the ground, usually on fourth down.
​
Q - Quarterback: The leader of the offense who calls the plays and usually throws the ball.
​
R - Red Zone: The area between the 20-yard line and the goal line where the offense is most likely to score.
​
S - Safety: A scoring play that results in two points for the defense when they tackle an offensive player in their own end zone.
​
T - Touchdown: A scoring play worth six points, achieved by carrying the ball into or catching it in the opponent’s end zone.
​
U - Unnecessary Roughness: A penalty for excessive or overly aggressive play.​
​
V - Victory Formation: A formation used by the offense to run out the clock and secure a win.
​
W - Wide Receiver: A player who catches passes from the quarterback.
​
X - X’s and O’s: A term used to describe the strategic elements of football plays and formations.​
​
Y - Yardage: The distance gained or lost on a play.
​
Z - Zone Defense: A defensive strategy where players cover specific areas of the field rather than specific players.
